Soil Amendment FAQs (click on question to see answer)
What are the benefits of OR’s soil amendment product?
The founders of OR have been on the cutting edge of the ‘biological farming’ movement for over 15 years. Farming is rapidly moving towards recognition of the importance of a balanced and healthy soil. The foundation of healthy soils is the growth of healthy microbe populations around the root zone and leaf tissue of plants.
Salt based and petrochemical fertilizers, pesticides and fungicides destroy these populations and weaken the plants’ natural ability to fend off disease and thrive. It requires large amounts of these products to grow high yielding plants. Using large amounts of the fertilizers contributes to global warming and surface and ground water contamination.
Food hydrolysate does not leach into ground water or create greenhouse gases. What it does is feed beneficial microbes in the soil and create a diverse soil ‘foodweb.’ This leads to deeper plant rooting, increased nutrient uptake and healthier plants that can better stave off disease and infestation.
A program incorporating food hydrolysate is almost always less expensive than the equivalent petrochemical version.
How is the hydrolysate fertilizer amendment product different from the current organic products on the market?
Organic products have the reputation of not performing as well as chemicals and being too expensive. The founders of Organic Recovery have turned that notion upside down. Due to the large volumes that OR can produce, OR is able to offer its hydrolysate at an affordable price. Furthermore, due to OR’s extensive experience and reach into the biological farming field, OR is able to formulate a product that consistently outperforms standard petrochemical fertilizers.
What other uses besides soil amendment can be developed from food residuals collected by OR?
Animal feed, compost accelerant, and microbial feed products can be produced from food residuals, due mainly to OR’s process in collecting and processing the residuals while still fresh.
Where is the finished product going to be sold and who are your target customers?
